How We Work
Authors come to NBPR because of Nancy’s reputation for delivering on their expectations with energy and creativity.
When an author inquires about representation, Nancy first reads some of the author’s work and reviews the potential client’s publishing history so she can discuss the possibilities of working together intelligently. Then she schedules a free phone consultation to go over the author’s ideas, expectations and promotional budget, as well as her thoughts on how she proposes to proceed.
There is no Plan A or Plan B. Each plan is as different as the author and may include social media, traditional and trade media, marketing, promotion, advertising, website content creation, introduction to important industry professionals, special events—and more. Nancy enjoys working as a member of an author’s traditional team, along with the literary agent, editor, house publicist, and marketing and special media people, but she is also enthusiastic about one-on-one relationships when the author is self-published.
In order to maximize clients’ budgets, NBPR recently moved from an employee-based firm to a business model whereby Nancy contracts with outside specialists for some authors’ plan elements that require specific skills, such as social networking content, advertising design, etc. She finds the best individuals for these jobs and negotiates a reasonable rate for the work. This saves the client considerable money and allows Nancy to do what she does best, assess an author’s needs; design, write and implement promotion, advertising, marketing and social media plans and projects that are so creative that they garner attention, engage the reader and get the desired results.
So regardless of your needs, NBPR can deliver success within your budget.
Nancy welcomes the opportunity to discuss your publishing dreams—or those of your authors’. The easiest way to contact Nancy is via email, Nancy@NancyBerland.com or via cell phone, 405-206-4748.
