For eight years, Kim Rozzell-Miller has served as senior account executive at Nancy Berland Public Relations, where she’s developed creative promotional strategies for New York Times bestsellers, award-winning authors, and writers making their publishing debut.
While attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Kim wrote features and worked in advertising for the city paper, The Weatherford Daily News. After graduating with honors and receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Marketing and Journalism, she was recruited by the largest bank in Oklahoma to market their banking products.
Kim continued to excel in management positions with Under the Sun Garden Centers, a computer learning center, and Bed Bath and Beyond, where she performed staff training, innovative incentive program creation, and overall business and customer operations. This unique combination of creativity and traditional marketing experience explains her strength in this key discipline for her author clients.
By this time, Kim realized she had an extraordinary talent for writing and worked on combining this skill with her lifetime passion for books, which led to her securing an assistant manager’s job at a Lifeway Christian Bookstore. Surrounded by books and people who love them, she gained valuable insight into what makes readers tick. Once again, Kim excelled in her position, helping the store earn honors for outstanding sales and a Best Store Turnaround award, until two weeks before the birth of her second child.
During that maternity leave, Kim discovered a listing for her dream job that she had no idea existed—much less in Oklahoma. Thus began her eight years (and counting!) commitment to promoting talented authors and their books at NBPR.
The multi-talented Kim has spearheaded numerous creative plans for her author clients and specializes in social media strategy, street team creation, mobile phone app development, brand development and management and charitable program creation. If you ask her what her favorite part of the job is, she’ll jokingly tell you it’s the free books. But she knows this position is custom tailored to her strengths and passions. She gets to use her creativity to help authors advance in their careers—and she has a never ending supply of great books to read.
A devoted mother of three young girls, Kim lives in a suburb of Oklahoma City. When not absorbed in parenting or public relations, she enjoys yoga, gardening and—what else?—reading.
